The artworks of a dozen University of Washington Bothell artists are now on display in the gallery at the Student Success Center.
They include photos, digital collages or photo manipulations, paper collages, oil paintings and poems, said Anna Jansen, events coordinator for the center.
The winter quarter art gallery opened Tuesday, featuring art from the 2016 Clamor, the University of Washington Bothell literary and arts journal for students, faculty, staff and alumni.
The 2017 Clamor will be published in the spring. Editors have been accepting submissions since November, but the deadline is Friday. Start the submission process online.
The featured artists now in the gallery are Morgan Thomas, Kendall Wiggins, Acacia Thorng, Victoria Lemos, Tommy Tang, Mudasir Zubair, Miguel Jimenez, Monica Dawn Dimaano, Brent Cox, Vivian Chuang and Corbin Louis.
Wiggins’ work is a photo of an alpaca she took in 2015 while on a UW study abroad trip in Peru. The alpaca is on the Andes farm of a man named Victor, hence the title “Victor’s Alpaca.” Wiggins, right, is a 2016 biology graduate, now back at UW Bothell working on a master’s in education with a teaching certificate. After she graduates in 2018 she plans to teach science in middle or high school.
Zubair’s work is a photo manipulation of flowers. After flips and edits, the photo became an abstract evocation of a butterfly he calls the “Butterfly Factory.” By coincidence it’s in Husky colors. Zubair, left, also is a copy editor at Clamor. He’s planning to graduate in winter 2018 from the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences, majoring in science, technology and society, and media and communications.
