The University of Washington is accepting nominations and applications for the second Husky 100 – exceptional students who make the most of opportunities for engagement and represent the University’s values.
The University of Washington Bothell had five students in the inaugural Husky 100. Students can find more information online and apply. Students also can learn more and have questions answered at two workshops: Jan. 10, 4:30-5:30 p.m., UW1-103, and Jan. 11, noon-1 p.m., ARC 121.
Faculty and staff are invited to nominate students who then are encouraged to apply. Current UW juniors, seniors and graduate students from any of the three campuses are eligible. Nominations close Jan. 8 and applications Jan. 23. Students do not need to be nominated to apply.
The Husky 100 will be announced in the spring. They’ll receive opportunities to expand networks with students, faculty, alumni and business leaders.
Husky 100 applicants are evaluated for their engagement and five criteria. Examples of engagement include studying abroad, mentoring, research, internships or working with community partners. Criteria are:
- Connect the dots – connecting subject matter and practical experience,
- Discovery mindset – innovating, seeing challenges not problems,
- Commitment to inclusive community – navigating and thriving within diverse communities,
- Capacity for leadership – making a difference in their organizations and communities,
- Ready for what is next – pursuing goals with savvy and fortitude.
The first five University of Washington Bothell members of the Husky 100 all came from the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences:
- Kelsey Bolinger – society, ethics and human behavior, media and communication studies,
- Jessica Cole – society, ethics and human behavior,
- Ruth Medina Godina – global studies, society, ethics and human behavior,
- Alejandra Perez Guzman – society, ethics and human behavior, American and ethnic studies,
