More than four dozen businesses, agencies and institutions will be opening their career doors to University of Washington Bothell students at the Fall Job & Internship Fair.
In partnership with Cascadia College, the event runs 1-4 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Activities and Recreation Center. This is an opportunity for students to get a foot in the door for internships and part- and full-time jobs. Students also will learn helpful tips and strategies.
One of the recruiters planning to attend the fair is Keith Gulley, talent acquisition manager for Seattle City Light human resources. He says the University of Washington Bothell has a reputation of producing graduates who are well prepared.
“We feel when they come out of the University of Washington Bothell they’re ready to go into the workforce,” Gulley said. “We’ve had some really good success at finding not only interns, but also full-time engineers.”
Gulley says nontraditional students who may have transferred from a community college or worked part-time have some advantages over students who may have spent four years in college courses straight out of high school.
“I feel like that work experience they have makes them very seasoned and very marketable for the utility,” Gulley said. “We’re excited for the fair.”
Seattle City Light plans to hire more than 50 interns next spring.
