You can learn more about Body Politic, the partnership between Cornish College of the Arts and University of Washington Bothell that will give students the opportunity to collaborate on wearable projects “at the intersection of art, technology and the body.”
Dawn Gavin of Cornish and Micha Cardenas, an assistant professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, are presenting talks 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3 in the Discovery Hall Collaboratory.
Students are invited to form 2-to-4 person cross-disciplinary teams to imagine, design and construct wearable art that addresses a societal need.
The teams will present portfolios of their ideas to faculty. The top 10 teams will receive studio space, mentoring and up to $2,000 in funding to complete their designs. Students will show their wearables this fall in a catwalk at Seattle Art Museum.
