Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains, Heather Felix never thought she could achieve her dream of a graduate degree in occupational therapy with the goal of working with vulnerable populations. Thanks to a scholarship from the UW Bothell Alumni Student Support Endowed Fund, Heather is on her way to achieving that dream.
Financial support has allowed Heather to concentrate on the leading-edge student experience at UW Bothell, both in and out of the classroom. As a student, she is pursuing two majors: Society, Ethics, and Human Behavior and a B.A. degree in Health Studies. She has her hands full as she successfully balances challenging academics, her work as a resident advisor, and other campus activities. Heather is also making an impact through serving the community, with 218 volunteer hours and counting.
Since 2009, the UW Bothell Alumni Council has helped 15 students and raised $100,000 through year-round fundraising. The biggest and most exciting fundraiser is the annual Husky 5K Run/Walk which brings hundreds of alumni and UW Bothell community back to the campus. The 5K just celebrated its 10th year.
Scholarship recipients like Heather are grateful that others care enough to invest in their dreams of an exceptional UW Bothell education, “There is nothing that means more to me than finishing my education at the University of Washington Bothell, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
